Hyperwords is a term for interactive text. Whereas hyper-links have the specific meaning of words which are linked to specific destinations, hyperwords refers to all all interactive words where the idea is that the reader can issue commands on the text.

The Hyperwords concept has been implemented as a server plug-in and as a plug-in for the Firefox, Flock and Chrome browsers. It is a selection-based interface which can be used for references, searches, blogging, emailing, copying, conversions and language translation.

The Hyperwords Project grew out of a research project at University College London and is now a developed and maintained by The Hyperwords Company Ltd in London, UK. The company's Advisory Board includes Douglas Engelbart, Ted Nelson, Vint Cerf, Dave Farber, Bruce Horn and Douglas Rushkoff[1].

"The point of Hyperwords is to make every single word on every single Web page usefully interactive to help aid knowledge work." [2]

A demo of Hyperwords can be seen at the "Hyperwords" website.
